Inspiration Trade

One last post before our holiday trip! At tonight's downline meeting, our theme for trades was "Inspiration Trades," which means I find something that inspires me in some way to create a card - a magazine ad, a bath towel, a shirt, pretty much anything! I chose this picture I took a couple of summers ago. I love the look of these sunny yellow flowers and the color combination of yellow, brown and green.

This is the card I created based on my inspiration piece. It uses the hostess set Happiness Always and On Your Birthday. I was really pleased with the end result. And, boy, did I receive some FABULOUS trades in return!

I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Stamps: Happiness Always, On Your Birthday, Canvas
Paper: So Saffron, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
Ink: So Saffron, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive

Thank You Card Boxes

We brought our little turkey treat bags to preschool for the kids today, but I couldn't leave the teachers out! I made these A-2 size card boxes, one for each teacher, and filled them with a set of Christmas cards and envelopes, as well as a thank you note. You can find a tutorial on how to make these boxes here.

Here are some individual shots of each box:

Stamps: Lovely Labels

Holiday 6x6 Scrapbook Page

Our downline meeting is tomorrow night and I have the honor of being the guest demo. I was asked to design a 6x6 scrapbook page with a holiday theme and this is what I came up with!

Absolutely NO stamping on this one, folks! A lot of punches and the Big Shot were used to put this little cutie together. I like the simple layout and classic Christmas colors (and those adorable faces!). :)

I saw this wreath on Splitcoast and thought it would look really cute on a scrapbook page. You can view full directions here on Pat Mayer's blog. Making this page really inspires me to actually do some scrapbooking with all of those pictures I take... hmmm, I guess I'll have to actually get prints made if I want to create an album, huh?
Stamps: None!
Paper: Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, Brushed Gold, Basic Black
Ink: None!
Accessories: Trio Flower punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Scallop punch, white gel pen, Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Big Shot die cut machine, Join in the Cheer die, Photo Corner punch, gold brad

Googly-eyed Gobblers

These little turkeys have been all over Splitcoast recently (it seems that peppermint patty treats are all the rage!) and I decided that they would make super cute little gift bag toppers. I made a set of these for my son to hand out at his preschool on Tuesday. I found a similar turkey here (I added the googly eyes).

We skipped the candy because we have a "no food" policy at the preschool. My son (along with a couple of other kids in his class) has several food allergies. So, I figured some new crayons and stickers would make a fun treat (who doesn't LOVE to get new crayons?!).

Jevin helped me punch out all of the shapes and he cranked the Top Note die through the Big Shot. He also helped stuff the cello bags and decided which crayon/sticker combo would be most appropriate for each of his classmates. Man, that kid is detail oriented! I wonder where he gets it from...? :)
Stamps: On Your Birthday
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Scallop punch, Small Oval punch, 5-Petal Flower punch, Photo Corner punch, googly eyes, mini glue dots, Top Note die, Big Shot die cut machine, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, medium cello bags

Christmas Gift Card Holder

I really like this little gift card holder - it's a quicker (and easier) version to make than the tutorial I have posted here. The idea for this style of gift card holder was inspired by a project I saw on Kristina Werner's blog.

This was the third project we made at the last Ladies' Art Night - Gift Tags Galore. I think I'll make up a batch of these to have on hand - you never know when you're going to need a quick gift, right? :)
Stamps: Scandinavian Season
Paper: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Whisper White, Ski Slope designer paper
Ink: Baja Breeze
Accessories: Chit Chat rub-ons, Large Star punch, 1" circle punch, Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon, silver brads, Dazzling Diamonds glitter

Mini Gift Card Set

This is a fun (and addicting) project. I first made this at our Mother/Daughter stamp night in October with the Flight of the Butterfly set (click here to view that project).

I changed up the colors and stamp set to make it a Christmas theme and presented it at our last Ladies' Art Night.

The cards are 3"x3", made with Kraft cardstock. I placed a narrow strip of Ski Slope designer paper on the bottom half of the card and added a piece of Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon. I stamped the "Merry Christmas" image from the Cute & Curly set with Real Red and punched using the Curly Label punch. This was mounted on the card using Dimensionals.

For the background, I cut a piece of Old Olive cardstock to fit inside the medium cello bag and randomly stamped the star flower from the Fresh Cuts set in Old Olive ink. I also stamped the flower onto the mini envelopes.

I placed the background, cards, and envelopes in the cello bag, punched through the bag and background cs with the Word Window punch and added a small piece of Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon.

Stamps: Cute & Curly, Fresh Cuts
Paper: Old Olive, Kraft, Whisper White, Ski Slope dsp
Ink: Real Red, Old Olive
Accessories: Curly Label punch, Word Window punch, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, mini envelopes, medium cello bag

Gift Tags

Holy cow! Has it really been a week since I posted something on my poor, neglected blog?! I'm not quite sure what I've been doing with myself, but I guess life has taken over.

This is one of the projects we made at the last Ladies' Art Night at the Rhapsody Art Gallery. What a fun gift, huh? And relatively inexpensive (once you have the punches) since it uses a lot of scraps. The idea for this comes from fellow demo, Rachel.

To make the tag holder, I started with a 4 1/4"x 8 1/2" piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I scored it at 2 1/4" from one end and used the Scallop Edge punch on the fold-over flap. I made the tags with the Deer Friends hostess set and used the elastic silver cording from the Holiday Mini. I placed the tags in a medium cello bag, slid the bag under the flap of the Kiwi Kiss cs and stapled all of the layers together. I added the phrase from Heard from the Heart (stamped in Chocolate Chip ink), another tag (love using red pom-poms for Rudolph's nose) and a little Riding Hood Red striped grosgrain ribbon.
Stamps: Deer Friends, Heard from the Heart
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: 1 1/4" circle punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, scallop circle punch, round tab punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop edge punch, 1/16" punch, silver elastic cording, Riding Hood Red striped grosgrain, mini red pom-poms

Lighthouse Birthday

This lighthouse card makes a great masculine card that can be used for several different occasions. Just change the greeting!

I stamped the Sanded background in Mellow Moss ink on Mellow Moss cs and swiped my Very Vanilla craft ink pad along the sides, creating a distressed look. Next, I added a photo corner and brads and adhered the panel to a card made from Sahara Sand cs. Then I stamped the lighthouse image from A Light Unto My Path in Mellow Moss ink on Very Vanilla cs. I layered the Very Vanilla panel onto a Close to Cocoa panel and adhered it to the Mellow Moss panel on the card front. I added a piece of hemp twine and the sentiment, which was stamped on Sahara Sand cs in Close to Cocoa ink and punched with the Wide Oval punch.
Stamps: Sanded, A Light Unto My Path, Sincere Salutations
Paper: Sahara Sand, Mellow Moss, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla
Ink: Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: Photo Corner punch, Vintage brads, hemp twine, Wide Oval punch

Window Treat Holder

This is a fun little treat holder that makes a nice gift for just about anyone! I was inspired by a Halloween treat holder from an issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

Fill the cello bag with candy, potpourri, tea bags, jewelry or any other treat you can think of. I've made these for several different occasions, as you can see. :)

To make this treat holder, I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 3 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score at 3 1/2", 4 1/2" and 7 3/4". Stamp with desired background. Insert 1 3/4" circle punch from the end without the small flap, pushing paper all the way to the back of the punch before punching. Decorate 3/4" flap with designer paper and scallop edge, if desired. Fill bag with goodies and staple to back of holder. Place Sticky Strip on the inside of the small flap, fold so that it overlaps the front with the window and secure it just over the top of the window. Tie ribbon around the top and add tag.
Stamps: Scandinavian Season, Tasty Sweet, Tart n' Tangy, See You Around wheel
Paper: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Ski Slope dsp, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Summer Picnic dsp, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Accessories: 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop edge punch, small cello bags, sticky strip, small tag punch, large tag punch, grosgrain ribbon (Real Red, Chocolate Chip, Pumpkin Pie), hemp twine

You're a blast!

A fun card for just about anybody! This is another one of the masculine cards we made last Saturday. I case'd this card from a fellow demonstrator, Karen Clark.

The rocket ship is from the Pun Fun set. I colored it using my aqua painter and used my Real Red marker to add the red dots. I layered the Whisper White strip onto a strip of Only Orange cs and then Real Red - makes it really pop next to the Brilliant Blue.
Stamps: Pun Fun, Classic Backgrounds
Paper: Brilliant Blue, Real Red, Only Orange, Whisper White
Ink: Black Staz-On, Brilliant Blue, Only Orange, Real Red
Accessories: Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon

A little pick-me-up

Here is another card from my Masculine Cards stamp-a-stack. This card uses the Loads of Love set and I went with tone-on-tone blue. The layout for this card comes from my upline, Karla Anders, who demonstrated a similar card but for Christmas. Change the colors and the contents of the truck and this card could be used for just about every occasion.

At the class, I had lots of stamps from the set and accessory set available for customers to choose from. That way they could easily customize their little pick-me-up!

Stamps: Loads of Love, Loads of Love Accessories
Paper: Whisper White, Bordering Blue, Brocade Blue, Night of Navy
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Whisper White grosgrain ribbon, white gel pen

Stars and Stripes

This is one of the cards we made at last Saturday's 10 Cards for $10. Our theme was "Masculine Cards," so I was going for simple and "rugged." I really like the look of all the different designer papers (all from the Muirfield designer series paper). This was a relatively easy card to put together - took a little effort to get the squares lined up, but I love the overall look.

Not much stamping here - mostly punches! I did add a little paper piercing along the bottom edge to give it a little extra...something. :)
Stamps: Fundamental Phrases
Paper: Very Vanilla, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Muirfield dsp
Ink: Pacific Point
Accessories: 1 1/4" square punch, Large Star punch, 1/2" circle punch, mat pack, silver brad
