Christmas in (almost) July

Another week, another Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoast... This week's challenge is a sketch, based on a card which you can view here. Such a lovely, basic layout - gotta love it. :)

I decided to use one of my new hostess sets, Christmas Punch, which will be featured in the 2009-2010 Idea Book. I know it's a little early for Christmas, but who says I can't get a head start?

Here are the details on the card construction: first, I stamped the snowflakes with Baja Breeze ink on Whisper White card stock. I layered that onto a piece of Riding Hood Red cs, and a Baja Breeze card (final card size: 5"x5"). I added some paper piercing around the Riding Hood Red square, to frame the snowflakes.

For the sentiment, I stamped it once in Riding Hood Red ink on Whisper White cs and once in Baja Breeze ink. Before stamping the Baja Breeze image, I colored the words with my Chocolate Chip marker. I trimmed my Baja Breeze oval to fit inside the Riding Hood Red scallop oval (punched with the Scallop Oval punch) and added a flower from the Trio Flower punch, along with a half-pearl from the Pretties Kit. Put it all together, add a piece of Baja Breeze ribbon, and the card is done.

I'll be back tomorrow with my first Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge - see you then!

Stamps: Christmas Punch
Paper: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
Ink: Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip marker
Accessories: Mat Pack, paper piercer, Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Oval punch, Trio Flower punch, Pretties Kit

Lovely card!! Considering it's going to be near 90 this week and sticky, a Christmas card is a welcome distraction!! :-)
