Elements of Style Roses

Hi there! I hope your week is going well. Today's card is a project from last night's shoebox swap, featuring sets from the new Summer Mini catalog. I prepared this card to share:

I used Fall-to-Layout 85 from the Clean & Simple blog. I also saw a card on Splitcoast by Jaydee that uses the same layout and stamp set and is just lovely! I used these two pieces of inspiration as a jumping off point for this card.

This new stamp set is called Elements of Style, and you can have it, too, starting May 1st. I just received my pre-order from the Summer Mini yesterday and I am looking forward to playing around with my new goodies. To make this card, I stamped the roses in Basic Black ink and used my Aqua Painter to color the roses - first with Bashful Blue ink and then I highlighted the roses with Taken with Teal. Here's a little tip that makes this process pretty easy - the roses have darker areas that allow you to see where you should add shading with a darker color. I also added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter, which you can see in the picture below.

I finished the card by adding some Sweet Pea designer paper, the sentiment and a touch of piercing. And don't you love that ruffle? It added just the right touch to this "vintagey" card.

Today is a special day in the Sannes household. My baby girl turns 4 today - how did that happen?! Here's a picture of my cutie-patootie fairy princess from her birthday party last Saturday:

Super-Sized Pillow Box

Today's project is one I created for our last Big Shot class. I made this elongated pillow box (made with the regular pillow box die) by doubling my cardstock and folding it in half, placing the fold just under one of the curved scallop sides of the pillow box. If this doesn't make sense, feel free to e-mail me and I'll see if I can be of more help. :)
I added the piece of Tea Party designer paper to the middle of the box in order to cover the fold. I decorated it with a few die cut flowers and a sentiment - I chose Mother's Day, but you could use just about anything. And guess what - 3 York Peppermint Patties fit perfectly inside! Yummy!

Vintage Vogue with a Modern Twist

I took a card that I made previously and changed it up a bit. I modified the colors, making it brighter and modern-looking. I also added a little bit o' bling. You can view the original card here.

A tisket, a tasket...

A pretty yellow basket! We made this fun little favor at a recent workshop and it was a hit. I was inspired by a similar basket made by fellow demo Rachel Durtschi, which she passed out to everyone in our downline group at the Milwaukee Regional.

I used my Box #2 die to create the box/base of the basket. I simply trimmed off the lid and tabs on the top of the box and assembled it as usual. Next I added the sides - Scallop Circles with the bottom trimmed off. To make the handles, I used my Large Oval punch. I added a flower from the Pretties Kit and some Sweet Pea felt to fancy it up, along with a bit of Rose Red stitched grosgain ribbon.

Wouldn't this make a fun wedding or baby shower favor? We made this same project at my MOPS meeting last night and several of the ladies planned to give it to their moms on Mother's Day. Something pretty filled with chocolate?! What could be better? ;)

Earth Elements Medallion

I'm so excited about Stampin' Up!'s Color Renovation... but I do want to make use of some of the retiring colors before they fade into oblivion. I demo'd this card (which features Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and Creamy Caramel) at a workshop this week, using the Poppin' Pastels technique to color the Medallion stamp.

This technique never fails to impress. What could be easier and pack such a wow? Just in case you've never tried the Poppin' Pastels technique, here's a quick run down: stamp your image in VersaMark ink, use a sponge dauber to add pastel (chalk) color of your choice, moving dauber in a circular motion until the desired color depth is achieved. If you haven't already, you gotta give it a try! I showed it to my kids and they just stood there with their mouths open. Jevin said, "Wow! It's like magic!" I said, "That's right - Mommy's magic. Don't forget it!" LOL!

Simplified Awash with Flowers

Hiya! The weather here is gorgeous and I'm thinking spring. I've been itching to play around with my new Awash with Flowers set for some time, but haven't had much time to just sit and stamp for fun. I decided to make a really quick and simple set of cards as a hostess gift for a recent workshop and I came up with these cards.


As you can see, it's basically the same card, with different ribbon and fold placement. Such a pretty lil' card, and so easy to whip up... I may have to make a batch to have on hand, leaving the sentiment blank until mailing so I can use it for just about anything.

Cheery Hello

Today's card is quick, simple and packs a lot of cheer into minimal space. This is another card we made at last week's stamp-a-stack.

I used Real Red, Yo-Yo Yellow (soon to be retiring) and Whisper White. These colors just scream spring to me, and that little pop of yellow makes the card so bright and sunny. I love that Real Red epoxy brad in the middle of the extra large flower - can't get enough of those polka dots. :) The finished card measures 3"x6". I hope this card has brightened up your day! Hello Baby

My last stamp-a-stack was called "Spring Fling" and all of the cards focused on springtime events. I thought it would be fun to make a baby card with the Fox & Friends set - I just love all of those little critters. :)

This card could also work for a child's birthday card or even a "thinking of you" card. I love versatile cards like that! Just in case you want to whip up one of your own, the Whisper White squares were punched with my 1 3/8" square punch and the Chocolate Chip squares are 1 1/2". Wood Sheets Lattice Votive

Hey there! Long time, no see, right? Sorry about that... Last week was a wee bit crazy 'round here. I had a stamp-a-stack to prepare for and I was lucky enough to attend the Milwaukee Regional on Saturday, so I had trades to make. This week will be busy, too, but I do have some projects to share. Today's project features the Wood Sheets found on page 158 of the IBC. They are easy to miss, since they are tucked in with lots of other cardstock, but don't let them pass you by! These wood sheets are beautiful and really fun to use!

We made this project at our last Big Shot class. I used the Lattice Die to cut the wood sheets and I tied the corners together using Chocolate Chip satin ribbon - easy peasy! The candle holder uses three of the Lattices, and you can get one votive holder out one Wood Sheet. Everyone oohed and aahed over this project and several ladies placed orders so they could make some more. One woman was planning to make a whole bunch for table decorations for an upcoming wedding.

Easter Smiles

I hope you all had a blessed Easter weekend. We had a great time visiting my family and I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures of my kiddos from Easter. I decided to put together a two-page layout in My Digital Studio to show off my lil' cuties!


Jevin and Enavi had so much fun visiting Nana and Grandpa's house and we had such pleasant weather. It really feels like spring is here! I'm thankful we have one more day at home together before they head back to school (although I must admit that I am looking forward to a little "me" time on Tuesday morning - LOL!).
