You're Amazing

It's Wednesday, and that means a new sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches! This week's sketch is from Cindy and I know you are going to have fun with this one.
I decided to make this card for my husband, as we are celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary today. He truly is amazing, so I thought this image worked perfectly.
When I received this stamp set (You're Amazing)I decided to cut the sentiment out from the surrounding frame, giving me a little more flexibility with both images. I was a little hesitant at first, but now I'm really glad that I did as I feel like I actually gained an extra stamp - yippee! I went with masculine colors, knowing it was for my hubby, combining Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit. I hope you get a chance to play along with this week's sketch - stop over at the Freshly Made Sketches blog and share your creation.

Happy Dirtday!

We have another great sketch for you to play with this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

I love that wide open space with the oval, just crying out to be filled with a stamped image and embellishments. I decided to flip the sketch and worked up a cutie-patootie birthday card using the I Dig You stamp set.

Fun, don't you think? I hope that you get a chance to play along this week. 'Bye for now!

Betsy's Blossoms Meets the In Colors

Today I have a card that shows off some of the new In Colors. I think these three work surprisingly well together: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.

This is another one of the cards we made at this month's stamp-a-stack. I paired these colors with the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set and used the new Elegant Butterfly punch, which I ran through the Fancy Fan embossing folder. I also put my Apothecary Accents Framelits to use on the sentiment. Nothing like pulling out lots of new stampin' goodies. Thanks for stopping by today - see you soon!

Stamps: Betsy's Blossoms, Blooming with Kindness
Paper: River Rock, Very Vanilla
Ink: Summer Starfruit, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple
Accessories: Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Fancy Fan embossing folder, Elegant Butterfly punch, Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon, Basic Pearls

Freshly Made Sketch #39: Lacy and Lovely

My card uses one of the new stamps sets, called Lacy and Lovely. This is one of my favorite new sets - the images all coordinate really well and I love the font of the sentiments.

I am digging this bold color combo as well - Gumball Green, Midnight Muse and Real Red. Kind of retro, don't you think? I hope that you get a chance to play along with us this week!

Ink: Gumball Green, Midnight Muse

Let's hear it for the dads!

It's time to start thinking about Father's Day, if you haven't already. I have so many wonderful fathers in my life. God blessed me with a loving dad who has supported me in all of my endeavors and is such a fun grandpa. I also have an amazing father-in-law, who loves me like his own daughter and is another special grandpa. And of course, there's my husband, who is the kind, patient, loving, funny, goofy, Godly man that is the father of my two kiddos. I am looking forward to honoring these guys on Father's Day, and here's little card I cooked up for this month's stamp-a-stack, especially for this occasion.

This was my first attempt at making an origami tie, and it was actually pretty easy. Here are directions I found, in case you want to make one of your own!

I used a 4"x4" square of designer paper to make my tie, but any size square will work. Just keep in the mind, the smaller the square, the harder it will be to fold. Have a wonderful day!

Chock Full of Cheer

I know that it's kind of funny to be thinking of Christmas cards in June, but it's never too early to start working on Christmas cards! :) This was another one of my swap cards for last Saturday's demo meeting. I really like this fun color combination for a Christmas card - a little whimsical and definitely beyond the traditional red and green.

Those little mittens from the Chock Full of Cheer stamp set are so cute! I'm looking forward to making more Christmas cards with this new set.

In case you haven't heard the news, I am super excited to announce that I will be a guest designer for the Freshly Made Sketches blog for the remainder of the year. I absolutely LOVE the FMS blog and I am honored to be a part of the team. I am looking forward to sharing my creations with you and the rest of the FMS followers.

Three Cheers - The New Catalog is Here!

Wahoo! The wait is over and the new catalog is finally here. I am SO excited! And this weekend I get to participate in a shoebox swap using some of the new goodies from the catalog - yippee! I can't wait. As part of the meeting, we are also doing a card swap and this is one of the swaps I will be trading with my fellow demos.
I was inspired by the layout for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #157. I am not usually a diagonal layer person - it makes me a little twitchy, what with my Type A personality and all - but I just felt like this would be a fun sketch to work with so I gave it a shot. I love the bright colors of this new dsp called Floral District and the patterns are fun and funky. You can also see that I used the new Betsy's Blossoms stamp set. My fingers are itchin' to get stampin' so I will leave it at that!

On a personal note, I will be running my first ever 10K tomorrow morning. This is a goal I set for myself last summer and I am so excited, but a little nervous, too. If you think of it, you can say a little prayer for me about 8:30am on Saturday morning. :) Have a fabulous weekend!
